My Artistic Journey
I have been creating pencil artworks for as long as I can remember, whilst also dabbling with watercolour - a medium I have a love-hate relationship with (it has a mind of its own and I like to be in control!). I have been attending classes and workshops to try and get to grips with watercolour for decades but don't think I'll ever feel that I've mastered it completely.
I picked up acrylics in my mid 20s and love the vibrancy of the colours, and the ease of control compared to watercolour! Pencil crayons and pastel pencils have become a feature of my more recent work, as a way of incorporating more colour into my drawings after years of monochrome graphite. And charcoal is a very new medium for me, but one I am growing to love - just not the mess it makes!
Animals will always be my favourite subject matter, although anything to do with nature inspires me (landscapes, trees, water...). I also enjoy a commission with a subject matter I would never contemplate until someone else asks for it!
